ShireFolk Chicken Reservations

We're trying a new approach to chicken this year.  There are 2 important points:
  • On-Farm Pickup only
  • Whole Birds only
We hope that this will help keep our chickens in the freezers of our friends and family, and if this bulk buying model works out, we may offer a Spring and Fall option in the future.  We're asking a $5 reservation fee per bird, to be discounted at the time of pickup and purchase (just like our turkeys).  We are additionally rewarding our bulk-minded customers by offering a 20% discount for chicken orders totaling over $200!  If you'd like to fall into this category, reserve 8 or more chickens.  These birds will be fresh, not frozen, so you can always break them down into pieces at home and save money on chicken cuts by going this DIY route. Chicken price is $5.50/lb.

On pickup day, we'll have a campfire going to keep things cozy, and you're welcome to wander the farm to see what we're up to here.  Bring your cooler and ice packs to keep the chickens cold and plan to spend an afternoon in the country.  Pleasant Grove Park has great hiking trails and river access.  There are three different vineyards and tasting rooms near us - Cunningham Creek Winery, Hardware Hills Vineyard. and Elk Island Winery, and the little town of Scottsville, VA is about 10 minutes down the road and can be a fun afternoon adventure.  They have a corner bar, brewery, coffee shop, pizza joint, and our favorite spot - Farmstead Ferments.  Take advantage of the excuse to enjoy an autumn day out of the city!
